Tata keep on making heads turn. The heads really turned when Tata introduced there Telcoline double cab pick up truck (bakkie) at R149.000 a couple of years ago.
Next Neotel (South Africa's Second National Telecommunications Operator) announced that one of Tata’s companies, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) who have been in the Telecommunications game for 135 year, will play a big roll in Neotel.
This week Tata have announced that they will produce a vehicle that would sell for around $2 500 (R17 825).
Apparently the car will not meet the European safety standards, according to the report.

My thinking is, If the car is safer than a beach buggy, runs light on fuel, parts and service are freely available and cheap, then I will give is a go.
Its still cheaper and safer than a motor bike.

The way the world is going Africa has all the natural resources, China buys them to build cheap stuff and everything is controlled from India. Funny how we have the metals, we export it to China to make stuff and our iron industry is owned by an Indian company.
On the cheap car, if it shows its strength in India, it should work year. These guys build ships, they should know what they are doing. Just don't expect a very modern look. They will most probably buy old fiat moulds, old Toyota engins and technology that is 25 years old (so that the patents aren,t enforced anymore.
It is however still safer than a motor bike
